Bug Description

Reproduce:

1. Uploaded large image 4G+

Expected:

1. Image uploads successfully
2. syncs to rack controller(s)

Actual:

1. Image uploads successfully
2. syncs to rack controller(s)
3. GUI says 'Waiting for rack controller(s) to sync' forvever

The image did sync, but the GUI says it hasn't.

MaaS Version: 2.6.0 (7802-g59416a869-0ubuntu1~18.04.1)

My smaller custom images (ESX and RHEL) do sync just fine, it's my larger Windows images which are exhibiting this issue.

You may close this, the error happens when you upload an image with filetype 'ddgz' instead of 'ddtgz'. So the bug might be an input validation to see if the file type you provided is even valid.

ddgz is actually a valid type. It is a gunzipped dd instead of a dd in a tarball gunzipped. Seems that the syncing code is getting confused with that type and not marking it as synced to the rack controller correctly.

I am still seeing this issue after upgrading to maas 2.6.0

* I run this command:
maas <user> boot-resources create name='windows/WS-2019' title='Windows Server 2019' architecture='amd64/generic' filetype='tgz' content@=win-image.img

* The command executes successfully after some time.

* The UI displays:
Waiting for rack controller(s) to sync

I am seeing this in a fresh install of maas 2.7 and the images downloaded from mass.io. I have 18.04/amd64 and centos/amd64 selected. I can see them download, but then the status in the GUI gets stuck on 'Waiting for rack controller(s) to sync'

The only thing slightly unusual is that I have IPv6 enabled.

@Blake, RE Comment #2, what if the file type you specify (e.g. filetype='tgz') is different from the actual extension of your file (e.g. win-image.img)? Does that even matter?

Is this still an issue on MAAS 3.2 or later?
