Bug Description

maas 2.3.0-6434-gd354690-0ubuntu1~16.04.1

I selected "Enable the installation of proprietary drivers (i.e. HPVSA)" in maas settings page, and the machine deployment failed. Investigation of the installation output showed this:

Err:7 http://ppa.launchpad.net/hp-iss-team/hpvsa-update/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
  404 Not Found

Turns out then when that drivers option is selected, maas adds the ppa:hp-iss-team/hpvsa-update PPA to the system, but it's out of date. It seems totally unmaintained, as it has only precise (!!), raring (!) and trusty packages, but no xenial ones.

Changed in maas:

Shouldn't you remove it from maas then? At least when xenial, the current
lts, is deployed?

Facing the same issue on HP moonshot. MAAS includes this archive as part of the deployment phase but no Xenial repositories are available. Then, the deployment fails consistently.
