Bug Description

This happened in OIL: http://paste.ubuntu.com/11284554/

It's hard to get any meaningful context given that a lot of things happen in OIL at the same time but this was triggered when a node was being started by Juju. But see the attached logs.

Very similar crash (I suspect caused by the same problem): bug 1459088. See my comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1459088/comments/4.

I think what happened is that the cluster encountered:

  provisioningserver.service_monitor.UnknownServiceError: 'maas-dhcpd'
  is unknown to upstart.

but this, not being part of the RPC call's signature, could not be
transmitted over the wire. On the region it appeared as:

  UnknownRemoteError: Code<UNKNOWN>: Unknown Error

Work carried out for bug 1457799 should help us diagnose these issues
more rapidly in the future.

I think this is a manifestation of bug 1457708, which has a fix committed and should be available in the next beta or release candidate for MAAS 1.8.
