No cloud-init-output.log during install phase

There doesn't seem to be a /var/log/cloud-init-output.log file during the install phase.
At least I couldn't find any while trying to debug bug 1273296.

The log you seek is on the node itself, not on MAAS. MAAS should do a better job of presenting the log to the user though. Hence I am duping this bug appropriately.

This bug was about the log not being on the node? Where can I find that
log?

Sorry, that was supposed to be a statement. smoser proposed this:

         contrib/preseeds_v2/curtin_userdata

I just tried adding this config and AFAICT there was no /var/log/cloud-init-output.log during installation.
