Bug Description
Lucid has cdbs 0.4.62+nmu1ubuntu9. Maverick has a later version (cdbs 0.4.83ubuntu2) - I'm requesting that it be backported because it supports scons as a build tool.
I'm working with debian-multimedia team to put a package out of supercollider. It uses scons for build, which is fine in the debian repo it's targeting, but we'd like the same package to be useable in ubuntu 10.04 LTS (specifically because of the LTS!).
I would hope that this requested change should help other packagers out there to bring things to 10.04 LTS.
Scons support was added in cdbs version 0.4.72, noted in the ubuntu changelog.

Additional info:
The updated version doesn't lose any files, but adds these to the deb:
/usr/lib/ cdbs/licenseche ck2dep5 cdbs/1/ class/perl- build-vars. mk cdbs/1/ class/perl- build.mk cdbs/1/ class/perl- makemaker- vars.mk cdbs/1/ class/perl- makemaker. mk cdbs/1/ class/perl- vars.mk cdbs/1/ class/python- autotools. mk cdbs/1/ class/python- module. mk cdbs/1/ class/python- sugar.mk cdbs/1/ class/python- vars.mk cdbs/1/ class/scons- vars.mk cdbs/1/ class/scons. mk cdbs/1/ rules/upstream- tarball. mk doc/cdbs/ buildinfo. gz

The differences in the build dependencies are:
* debhelper dependency goes from ">=5" to ">=6"
* texlive-font-utils dependency loosened, to "texlive-font-utils | texlive-extra-utils (<< 2009)"
* Three added dependencies: devscripts (>= 2.10.7~), cdbs, dh-buildinfo
All of these dependencies are satisfied in ubuntu lucid core repository, they're all standard debian-packaging things.
I've backported it to lucid in my PPA (no changes except changelog): /launchpad. net/~danstowell /+archive/ ppa/

It works fine for me here (on mythbuntu lucid, building a supercollider deb [using the standard scons from lucid repo]).
