Bug Description
I was unable to print from Lubuntu 13.04 to HP Laserjet 1018 USB printer.
Steps needed to rectify the situation:
1) cupsd doesn't start automatically unless /etc/init/cups.conf is edited to remove
the dependency to avahi-daemon which is not running.
$ sudo vi /etc/init/cups.conf
#start on (filesystem
# and started avahi-daemon
# and (started dbus or runlevel [2345]))
start on (filesystem
and (started dbus or runlevel [2345]))
2) Install foo2zjs and its dependencies dc, mscompress and printer-
$ sudo apt-get install foo2zjs dc mscompress printer-
3) Download the firmware file sihp1018.img
$ sudo /usr/bin/getweb 1018
4) Load the firmware file to the printer
$ sudo /usr/sbin/hplj1018
5) Configure printer through System Tools/Printers
Lubuntu Tweaks has long been deprecated.
