FPS chooser cannot be typed into

Bug Description
Click into the FPS chooser. No cursor appears. You can drag across the number in the box to highlight it, though. Now press "2". Stopmotion responds with "Playback only currently works when running the grabber as a daemon. Go to the preferences menu (CTRL+P) to switch to running the image grabbing as a daemon."
This error makes no sense, as I am running the grabber as a deamon, playback mode is not selected and the onion skinning mode is not being changed. Indeed, the camera is off.
The error message is also line-broken in a bizarre way (between switch/to).
