stopmotion.pro references translations/*.qm - should be *.ts??

I'm trying to compile linuxstopmotion for Archlinux
When I run 'qmake-qt4 stopmotion.pro' I get:
'ls: cannot access translations/*.qm: No such file or directory'
the files in the translations/ folder are all *.ts, not *.qm
When I run 'make' the build fails with the same error

If I change the references in stopmotion.pro from *.qm to *.ts, it compiles and runs, but the only translation available in the menu is English. Is this my problem or yours ;-)
