Bug Description

tbielawa@fridge:~$ apt-cache policy loud-greeter-widescreen
loud-greeter-widescreen:
  Installed: 7.1.13
  Candidate: 7.1.13
  Version table:
 *** 7.1.13 0
        100 http://mirror.lcsee.wvu.edu ljaunty-lmaniac-test/ Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Description: It doesn't work. You get back to the greeter and the background turns into the background for "the flower" theme one. This is consistent through system reboots.

Don't think this happens on all systems. I'm interested in seeing what happens if loud-themes is also installed, etc...

In the case where loud-themes had been installed and then uninstalled, THEN loud-greeter-widescreen is installed, the greeter will install correctly. (tested on a systems staff machine in 701 ESB)

ok. after heavy testing. i have discovered results for different test cases:

1) clean install of loud --- Result: pass
2) clean install of loud & remove greeter & set new gdm theme & install greeter -- Result: fail
3) #2 with loud-greeter-standard. -- Result: fail

Thoughts, maybe me changing it in the middle was a bad move, the settings are still in /etc/gdm/gdm.conf after we install greeter again, but they don't seem to be having any effect. I'm thinking that when you use login window from admin menu, you change a setting NOT in /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. Where this setting might be? God knows atm.

Relouding and doing the process over, WITHOUT using Login Window manager.

New tests:

1) Clean install of loud --- Result: pass
2) clean install of loud & remove greeter & set gdm to Human in gdm.conf -- Result: Human theme was used
3) Use #2, and install greeter-widescreent --- Result: pass
4) Use #2, and install greeter-standard -- Result: pass

The package installs fine. Everything works. However if you use Login Manager, it seems to bork things up.

the reason that the "login window" manager allows you to change the gdm is that it creates a /etc/gdm/gdm.conf-custom file that is used to overwrite the default /etc/gdm/gdm.conf file.

I believe that we should leave this open as it is the only way for people to change their gdm theme to something custom, while leaving the default at LOUD.

However, the original bug is still not found. I have requested more information from Shaggy and he said he would post it later tonight.

However as of right now, everything looks fine.
