wrong irc chat name when name contains a dot

The dots of the name are replaced by numbers (see screenshot)

It seems that IRC dont support names with dots, and that freednode convert dots to random numbers.
The solution should be in my oinion to replace dots by - or _
So far i couldnt find a template filter, which could do this job
