Bug Description
On trying to use a remote for which there is no known lircd.conf file, it is suggested irrecord be used to generate a suitable configuration file.
One of the first prompts from irrecord is "Hold down an arbitrary button." At this point irrecord is apparently expecting an "auto repeat" button to be held down. On the Leadtek Y04G0033 remote I have most buttons are not auto repeat buttons but the VOL+/VOL- and CH+/CH- buttons are.
The prompt would be much more helpful if it said something like:
"The next step requires you to hold down a button which causes keypresses to be sent as long as the button is held down. Each recognised keypress will cause a dot to be printed. If you hold down a button and don't see a stream of dots you should restart this program and select another button. ???? buttons on remotes for electronic media equipment are often auto repeat buttons.
Hold down an arbitrary auto repeat button."
Perhaps someone with a wider experience of remote controls can suggest some suitable candidate buttons to replace the '????' above.
