Bug Description
This is for the Xfce version of LMDE. In Disk Utility (Palimpsest), when you click on a mounted partition, a clickable link to the partition appears to the lower right part of the window at "Mount point:". When you click on the link, Disk Utility spawns Nautilus to open the location. However, Nautilus then takes over managing the desktop from Thunar. My understanding is that Disk Utility using Nautilus is hard coded in and cannot be changed by users. The workaround I found on the forums that I use in my other Xfce distros is to apply the following symlink:
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/thunar /usr/bin/nautilus
