Banshee continue to play but window unavailable and shell extension controls unresponsive

Bug Description
Problem occurs when using "close" command in Banshee two consecutive times, i.e., "close", then bring application up again using activities menu, then "close" again.
Running Mint 12 64 bit with MSGE on AMD machine.
Banshee continues to play and other programs are accessible/
However, Banshee window cannot be called up and controls in the shell extension in Mint 12 MSGE are unresponsive. For example, if click the Banshee icon in the activities menu after the second "close", nothing happens. The Banshee window does not appear. If I click the media player shell extension I see what is playing but the control buttons, but the buttons don't to anything. If I want to change the song or stop Banshee, tough luck, I need to restart. Stop button does not work.
Banshee is not displayed on the top bar as an open application, even though it continues playing. I also am running Plank, and it is not shown as running on Plank.
When I click Banshee icon in activities menu, Banshee shows in top bar for a moment or two as if it is trying to start, but terminates without opening. Using "quit" button on top menu does not stop playback.
After problem occurs, Banshee seems to stop after finishing current song. Banshee cannot be called up again without reboot.
