Bug Description

1) The version and edition of Linux Mint you are using (if you are not sure, open a terminal and run "mintwelcome").
Mint 12 Lisa Stable 64 bit
2) What you did for the problem to happen, and how to reproduce it.
Fresh install, I had not done anything yet to screensaver. I did not set it up or modify it in any way.
3) What happened.
The distro screensaver engaged, when I moved the mouse to recover, ongoing mint-update downloads had paused, and would not resume without a reboot.
4) What you expected to happen instead.
I expected to move the mouse and have the desktop reappear, with all ongoing processes still running. My solution has been to uninstall gnome-screensaver with Synaptic, install xscreensaver, and add it to startup applications. This fixed the problem for me.
5) If the problem happened once, sometimes, or always.
Sometimes. before I uninstalled, I did notice a few successful screensaver recoveries, about 50/50.
