Bug Description

was playing music with banshee and surfing with firefox, on facebook, and had hit f5 to refresh, i believe, on some comments, and went to click in the text box and got no response... then got no response from anything except that buttons would highlight when moused over, though the response time was bad. Could click on buttons and get a highlight only. Tried all the usual alt tab ctrlaltdel, whatever.... eventually hit reset.

mint12 gnome 32
no clue how to reproduce it, hang on, ill go to same page with same song playing
now banshee wont play
had to open the drive in file manager (mount?) then banshee worked just fine (actually tried to play the file from file manager, which got banshee going, then was able to use its features normally)
going to hit f5 in firefox again :)
no problem, text box activated; i'll take it as a hint to give up on facebook :)
anyways, good luck with that... is there some log file i can send?

happened again.. this time it began small... possibly when banshee quit playing, end of list
i tried to minimize firefox for some reason, to close the welcome screen, i forget... oh, tried to right click on toolbar item to close it, nothing... then tried to minimize ff, nothing, tried alt tab, it got stuck on... minimize eventually worked... then finally nothing would work and alt tab was stuck on... hit reset again

im gonna try to roll back my graphics driver to previous version, nvidia 173 i think... had problems with newest graphics driver in windows...

if it happens again, let you know

tried every graphics driver, nvidia 96 gave me a screen with no toolbar... assuming it is the new gnome.... trying to switch to xface, if possible, or will try previous verson of mint, 11

the 'other' graphics drivers all gave me load glitches, specifically unreadable text, ascii looking blocks instead of text, rolled back to 96 with updates... still could try just 96, but need to switch desktops first

well, with nvidia 96+updates it took me to the new gnome but no toolbar, however, i remembered to hit ctrlaltbkspc and got the login, then hit the gear and select old gnome, then able to switch graphics back to lowest driver nvidia 96

and wow, it took me to new gnome, flashed the toolbars for a sec, which freaked me out, but then it all loaded and works, so far

however, the boot text is still just whitewash on black bg (is this fixable?)

the boot text worked when booted with recovery mode, start to finish

so, it is working, so far, on this lowest graphics driver... going to see how well and get back to you...

i'm thinking i should switch to the latest LTS offering, no?

well, the destop resolution options are weak, so I am going to try rolling the graphics drivers up to 173, then 173u and try that for a bit

no, i am going to go ahead and switch to lts... staying with mint for now, i guess, but not mint 12... i'd like to see my boot text... hoping lts works for me

This has nothing to do with Facebook. I'm getting the same problem, it happens if you press F5, then subsequently press Alt+Tab. Pressing any other key before Alt+Tab avoids the bug.
Also, the keyboard lock can be disabled if you have multiple keyboard layouts by right-clicking on the keyboard icon in the systray and switching to your alternative layout and back.
