2015-02-05 11:47:10 Mantas Kriaučiūnas description Currently Linux Mint doesn't have user-friendly text mode process viewer/manager - top utility is not intuitive, very hard to use and old crap :) Please include htop interactive process viewer/manager as default into Mint CD I'm using htop utility since 2004 and feel happy :) htop utility has lots of improvements comparing to old top: In 'htop' you can scroll the list vertically and horizontally to see all processes and complete command lines. In 'top' you are subject to a delay for each unassigned key you press (especially annoying when multi-key escape sequences are triggered by accident). 'htop' starts faster ('top' seems to collect data for a while before displaying anything). In 'htop' you don't need to type the process number to kill a process, in 'top' you do. In 'htop' you don't need to type the process number or the priority value to renice a process, in 'top' you do. 'htop' supports mouse operation, 'top' doesn't See http://htop.sourceforge.net/index.php?page=comparison Some other Ubuntu based distributions already have htop in default CD image, for example Baltix GNU/Linux has htop since 2004 :) Ubuntu users also suggest to include htop, see http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/2026 Currently Linux Mint doesn't have user-friendly text mode process viewer/manager - top utility is not intuitive, very hard to use and old crap :) Please include htop interactive process viewer/manager as default into Mint CD I'm using htop utility since 2004 and feel happy :) htop utility has lots of improvements comparing to old top: In 'htop' you can scroll the list vertically and horizontally to see all processes and complete command lines.
