Bug Description
Linux Mint 12 “Lisa” RC DVD 64
along side install with mint 10 and windows 7
I right clicked to safely remove harddrive was the first time it crashed.
I used the eject button on the Gnome 3 bar. First time it worked fine.
After first time it crashes system also.
I used another portable harddrive with same results
The screen goes black and displays many error comments. The portable harddrive stays spinning. I have to do a hard shutdown to get out of it.
I expected it to unmount the drive for safe unplug.
It happens every time for all portable harddrives. There has only been one time it has not crashed and that was with me using the eject button on the gnome bar.
Added note: This problem does not happen when I am using Mate.
Added note: It crashes in Gnome classic also
code: Bad RIP value
RSP
CRZ
kernel panic not syncing: fatel exception in interrupt
Tainted: G D 3.0.0-12generic
call trace
Added note: Upgraded to Mint 12 standard. Unmounting crash happens in Mate also. kernal number is 3.0.0-12generic. I noticed, after I reinstalled again, after I had used the eject it had removed the desktop icon. In Nautilus the drive was still there. Also, I plugged a second HD in the same USB and the system did not see it.
