Bug Description

Linux Mint 12 RC 64. I installed virtualbox by downloading the .deb package from http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/4.1.6/virtualbox-4.1_4.1.6-74713~Ubuntu~oneiric_amd64.deb. libcurl3 was an unmet dependency.

Once virtualbox was installed, it would launch from the terminal, but did not appear in the list of applications, either in the gnome 3 application launcher list, or in the bottom menu. Running alacarte showed that Oracle Virtualbox item was indeed present in the menu structure and was selected to be displayed.

I manually added another Virtualbox entry in alacarte, and that shows up in both lists.

v. 4.1.4 works fine here, and appears in the menu. I'll have to check 4.1.6.

Hi Clem. Further on this, if I start Virtualbox from the launcher that I added, the 'official' one then appears at the bottom of the favourites bar (so then there are 2). It only appears there while Virtualbox is running though.

Installed Virtualbox-4.1 from Software Manager on release Mint 12 and it does not appear in the menu, but appears to run fine from a terminal session ("$ virtualbox &").
