gksu and gksudo broken in Mint 11

Bug Description

Adding either gksu or gksudo to the menu properties' commmand line does not work: No prompt for password and app runs as a a regular user. Effects Linux Mint 11 Gnome 64bit

Should get password prompt and then app runs under root account

happens always using mint menu

This effects Nvidia settings: Forces resetting x-windows every time you login on a multi monitor systems. Are not system configuration applets SUPPOSED to run as ROOT?

when saving x-windows config I get: Unable to open X config file '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' for writing. This appears to be because root privileges aren't working properly under the gui

Could you indicate the output of the following commands ?

ls -ld /etc/X11/
ls -l /etc/X11/xorg.conf
