This problem persists into Mint 18. The only way I managed to receive files on the Mint computer was by installing not only the package mentioned by the other poster (which, incidentally, failed to create a MintMenu entry for itself . .) but also `blueman`, i.e. the older software that `blueberry` means to replace. I agree to the comments before: In LM 18 (Cinnamon) it is not possible to receive files via Bluetooth although GUI says it is possible.

In LM 17.x (and before?) user was able to solve this issue via installing "gnome personal sharing" which adds an entry in Mint Menu for enabling the reception of files via Bluetooth.

But in LM 18 the situation has become worse, since installation of "gnome personal sharing" does not solve the issue (as already mentioned above).

Blueman seems to be the only option, but as stated in initial post:

LM should be able to receive files via BT out of the box, especially as Mint 18 says "I can do the job" but doesn't!
