Firstly, if you're forwarding bugs from Linux Mint to ubiquity, please forward them to the ubiquity package in Ubuntu, not the upstream project. Use "Also affects distribution" rather than "Also affects project".
Secondly, this is not a ubiquity bug. If you look in the syslog, you'll find this followed by several more kernel errors just before ubiquity crashes:
Nov 19 02:02:15 mint kernel: [ 3484.584811] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Unhandled error code DRIVER_ OK
Nov 19 02:02:15 mint kernel: [ 3484.584817] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] Result: hostbyte=DID_ERROR driverbyte=
Nov 19 02:02:15 mint kernel: [ 3484.584822] sd 3:0:0:0: [sdb] CDB: Write(10): 2a 00 17 85 95 00 00 00 e0 00
Nov 19 02:02:15 mint kernel: [ 3484.584833] end_request: I/O error, dev sdb, sector 394630400
Nov 19 02:02:15 mint kernel: [ 3484.584840] Buffer I/O error on device sdb6, logical block 754080
In other words, something has gone wrong with the hard disk, or possibly with the hard disk driver in the kernel, and the kernel is now refusing to write any more data to it. There's nothing much the installer can do about this.
