Bug Description

Linux Mint Debian Edition, Release 1
Just finished installing LMDE and installed all 512 updates. Upon completion of updating, the theme for my user was (apparently changed to) the default Debian theme. Attempting to changing it back required a restart, as I was informed that something else was using the daemon that was necessary to make changes active. Restarting showed the Login Screen had also reverted.

After clicking the Restart button, the panels from the desktop manager disappeared as they should, but a window requesting the root password appeared, freezing the shutdown process. Entering the password caused the shutdown to resume.

When logging in again, the Linux Mint theme was restored automatically, but the Login Screen remained in the default Debian theme.

Ideally, the update process doesn't affect the theme.
