Bug Description

I just installed Linux Mint 10 RC.

I used the backup tool to restore my home folder from my old laptop (LMDE 32 bits) to my new desktop computer (LM10 RC 64 bits).

I had to left home and when I came again it had finished. But when I went to see the files I saw that the images folder was empty, so I checked that the files were in the backup and all of them was there. I started again the backup tool and it hasn't finished yet but it's copying the missing files.

FYI, I have to use my password again when the screensaver is activated, maybe the backup tool stop working when this happens. I have the suspend function disabled, same thing with hard drives.

Hi, thank you for reporting this issue!

Can you please confirm a few things?

 * Provide an ls -l of the root of each directory (source + target)
 * Provide a "tar tf" of the backup file (if relevant)
 * Did mintBackup complain when making the backup?
 * Did mintBackup complain when restoring the backup?
 * Any terminal output from mintBackup
 * The exact version of mintBackup on each machine

Thanks!

It was on a RC version so I don't have all the information you're asking for. I only know that mintBackup didn't complain when making or restored the backup.

I'm sorry to do not be more helpful.

The file attached to the original post has tons of information -- maybe too much. To test, do a clean install of LM17, update all install files, then use my restore-software file which is the last section of the file attached to the original post. You should see the 2 failures that I see using both the Backup Tool and the "manual" restore. Output from BOTH of these is in the first part of the file attached to the original post.

Questions? comments? Please send a note! THIS NEEDS FIXED!
