Toshiba Tecra 8200 no audio

Running Linux Mint Debian

After replacing Linux Mint 9 with Linux Mint Debian on this laptop, the audio stopped working.

To fix the problem it was necessary to download and install "alsa-firmware-1.0.23" from www.alsa-project.org

After compiling and installing this package the audio was working.

This laptop has a Yamaha DS-1 sound card.

Unfortunately it looks like this bug report
has not been attended to in quite some time.
In order to establish whether this is a valid
bug or not we will need a response from yourself
indicating that the error is still present today
and reproducible (i.e. not fixed)

at the moment my sound system on this laptop is FUBAR, so I cannot confirm the bug again.

As no-one else seems to have this problem, and the fix is in my first comment, you may as well close the bug for now.

I intend to do a fresh install with the next Mint-Debian release, so I'll reopen the bug if it still exists.

I just re-installed Linux Mint 201101-i386 on my Tecra 8200

Upon rebooting I had no audio.

dmesg reported the following :

I then installed "alsa-firmware-1.0.23" and rebooted

dmesg reported the following :

And audio is now working.
