Bug Description

During installation of Linumint9 Isadora - LXDE Characters and spaces are accepted for passwords but when logging in only alpha/numeric passwords are accepted, therefore the user cannot gain access.

In my opinion the installer shouldn't let you use fancy characters and space characters, whether it's in the hostname, username or even password. Marked it as upstream on Ubiquity.

Whilst I accept your position on security, It has always been acceptable in
Linux to use characters in passwords. My point was that in LXDE RC that was
accepted during installation and logging in but in the final version it
allowed characters for installing but the login screen refused to accept
them. I merely wondered if the maintainer was aware of this or not, hence
the report. Otherwise this is my favourite version so far as it meets the
needs of my old system perfectly. Thanks to you and the team once more

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once:
apport-collect 609331

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
