Bug Description

Start up my laptop
"Checking disk 1 of 1 (8 % complete)"
It stays at 8 %, shows no disk activity. After a minute or so I press C to skip all further checks.
It then jumps to "Checking disk 1 of 2", and proceeds quite rapidly to 70 %. There it hangs again, again no disk activity.
After a while it jumps to "Checking disk 1 of 3", still no disk activity. But after I wait for long enough, it jumps to 71 %, and proceeds slowly, without any visible or audible disk activity. It reaches 100 % in about 45 minutes. As I was out of the room when it climaxed, I do not know whether it also rapidly checked disks 2 and 3, or just ceased once it was done with disk 1.

I have an Eee PC 1005 HA. lshw attached.

If somebody can tell me how to induce a diskcheck-on-startup, I will try to reproduce.

The same thing happens to me. I have a desktop, not an Eee PC, and I have tried both the 64-bit version and the 32-bit version of Mint 9. It normally will hang at around 2-8% and when I press "C" to cancel it continues to hang and says that I have errors, which I know I do not have, and it renders me unable to boot into Mint 9. Pressing "I" to ignore will cause it to completely freeze and I am forced to do a reboot, normally into another OS unless it doesn't do a disk check.

I am having a similar problem, and I have a desktop. Disk check says scanning disk one of two and shows percentage of scanning , after that percentage disappears and it doesnt say what disk it is scanning. Happened to me twice now, last time I left it for 20 mins but as I couldnt tell if anything was happening I asked it to skip check. system then continues booting normally.
