Bug Description

Hi

I'm using Linux mint below version. If I try to copy a vcd (like windows VCD File copy like aves.dat file). It will throw some error and no content will be copied. As I know there is a program called VCDXRIP. By using this we can rip the cd. But If Linux Mint integrate the feature which is done in windows as I describe previously ( direct copy the file) , It will be very helpful for user instead of going to shell and type a command. I need to copy the video file.

Note : At present I have a requirement I have 6 video files in my VCD I need to copy only the 4 th file in a specific location in my Hardisk. How to do this? I don't want to create the image of whole CD.

Linux Mint :- 5 Elyssa LTS Main edition.
Kernel : - 2.6.24.16 generic

Thank you for reporting a bug in Linux Mint. Unfortunately I do not have the necessary hardware to reproduce your problem. If anyone else can confirm this bug, please say so. Please check out the Linux Mint Forums, where there are many more people available to help out with diagnosing any problems you have. Please repost this in the forums, and put a link to it here, so I can track any further development. It is also exceptionally useful if you include the output of "inxi -F" when reporting hardware problems. You might also like to check out this article: http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html This is a standard response, so it may not be entirely appropriate.

For anything to be done about this, the contents of the error message must be detailed, as well as a step-by-step method to reproduce it on a fresh install.

Hi,

1) Insert a VCD in cd rom .
2) Go to mpeag folder in the cd.
3) Try to copy the .Dat file using right click and then copy.
4) Paste the file in hardisk.

The above step will throw an error and the file will not be copied. Copy cd can acheive by using VCDXRIP. But why the above process should throw an error?

Expected output is when user do the step 1 to 4 . The dat file should copy to the harddisk. Simlar functionality is there in windows OS. It will be easy for a normal user. To make the Linux mint more friendly.

Please feel free to ask me, If you want anymore information..

Vipin Balakrishnan.

I'm using Linux Mint 8 (Helena). I'm also having same problem on copying VCD files and playing .dat files directly by opening it with MPlayer or VLC. The error I got is something related to "I/O Error". I think it's the issue with different type of mounting that is usually used in Linux, but not with Windows XP, Vista etc.
Is there any solution for this issue in Isadora? Because I haven't tried the RC version of Isadora.
Waiting for a solution or replies to this.
