Bug Description
I am new to linux mint and the linux community. I operate both Mac and Windows computers and have some experience with Unix. I decided to give linux mint a try and wiped my old laptop's hard drive and installed linux mint a few days ago. everything was working great it connected to my home network which uses WPA security. I brought the laptop to my parent's house a day later and again connected with no problem to their network. The problem was when I returned home I could no longer connect to my home network and I received the following error in the logs: ipw2100: Fatal interrupt. Scheduling firmware restart
I can still connect to unsecure networks and get internet access, but I'm not willing to turn off my security on the router just for this laptop. I've looked into a few forums, tried bringing the issue up in the irc chat, but so far I'm still stuck with no longer having wireless access. Is there a solution or should I just reload from scratch?
update: I reset the router from mixed-mode to 802.11G specific, then back to mixed mode (b & g). This corrected the problem and the laptop connected immediately, but not sure why this happens. Below is a link to the website and the advice I followed to correct the problem:

Bug #24776
/**** ATTENTION ****
I believe this issue is specific to the error that a chipset that is not 802.11G capable will return when it picks up an a beacon from a router that is not mixed-mode, but 802.11G specific. Please verify. Remove mixed-mode from your G routers, and see if you can get this repeated. Then add back mix mode and see if it goes away and if you're connected with 802.11B.
