Bug Description

  affects linuxmint

Distro: Linux Mint 21.3 (Virginia)
Package: maybe lightdm, or maybe nfs

Symptoms:

When the GUI screen is locked with Alt-Ctrl-L or due to screensaver timeout
and a NFS share is mounted and the NFS server is inaccessible
(stopped/disconnected), the login freezes after typing password and ENTER.
The rotating icon stops rotating.

Work around:

Start NFS server again: sudo systemctl start nfs-server
or
Lazy unmount NFS share on client: sudo umount -f -l /home/joe/nfs

Cause:

I expect it must be lightdm which is somehow checking mounted shares and
trying to access them. When trying it gets stuck and the screen freezes.

I have tried to add the NFS mount option "timeo=5" without luck (so I only
have to wait 5 seceonds for the screen to unlock).

Is there a way to investigate why the freeze occour? Some process waiting
for something?

best regards
Hans
