In VSCode clicking Help -> About crashes the X server 100% of the time

Bug Description
1) Version and edition: Mint 18.2 Cinnamon 64-bit
2) What I did: I downloaded the Visual Studio Code v1.14 (June) deb from https:/
3) What happened: The X server bombed and I was sent back to the lightdm login screen.
4) What did I expect to happen: For the X server not to bomb!
5) Frequency: Always.
I'm using the Nvidia binary driver with a Quadro K2000.
