Bug Description
I am using cinnamon in Linux mint 18.1 cinnamon edition, on an Acer Aspire 7730G laptop with no external audio hardware besides a pair of analog headphones.
When I go to settings -> Sound -> Output, and set the balance to any value other than the default, it is reset to the default every time I turn the volume down to zero. This happens with both the built in speakers and with headphones.
