Bug Description

Mint 18 KDE 64-bit with all updates applied.

Installed Linux Kernel update today and BOINC lost ability to use NVidia GPU after reboot. Switched to default video driver, rebooted, switched back to recommended NVidia driver and rebooted, BOINC still unable to find GPU.

Installed the 340 Nvidia driver and rebooted. BOINC crashes bad at startup.

Switched to previous version of kernel at boot time then removed latest kernel and rebooted. Ran through previous dance of switching video drivers and rebooting. BOINC never able to find GPU.

Switched back to version of kernel which came with the ISO. Ran through previous dance of switching video drivers and rebooting. BOINC never able to find GPU.

After installing kernel 4.4.0-51.72 no previously working combination of kernel + NVidia driver can be made to work. There is something getting changed which does not get changed with the removal process.

I forget my exact NVidia video card, but it has 384 CUDA core and a couple of Gig of RAM.
