1) Linux Mint 18 'Sarah' XFCE 64-bit
-kernel is 4.4.0-45-generic #66-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 19 14:12:37 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
2) Attempt to resume laptop by opening lid
3) Laptop appeared to begin resume (fan sped up, backlight on screen turned on) but then immediately suspended
4) Full resume
5) Always
I have Mint 18 XFCE on a Lenovo ThinkPad X131e/AMD Fusion. Suspend works as expected. Laptop is set to resume on opening the lid. When I open the lid, it begins to resume than immediately suspends again. If I momentarily press the power button (not long enough for forced shutdown), it then resumes normally. It happens every time I try to resume by opening the laptop lid. I have seen this issue before intermittently on another laptop (Thinkpad T400) using Mint 17.1 - 17.3 Cinnamon and it occurred about 25% of the time. In that case the issue ceased with an upgrade to Mint 18 Cinnamon. So for one set of hardware, the problem went from intermittent to nonexistent on upgrade to Mint 18. For another, the upgrade to Mint 18 initiated the problem and it occurs each time on resume.
