After upgrading Firefox from 47 to 48 on Mint 18 Cinnamon this morning, I realized searching from the URL bar does not work.
Single word queries result in the browser trying to turn them into 'fixed up' URLs (eg adding .com the the word), multiple word queries result in nothing happening. I press Enter and the URL contents return to what they were before (e.g. 'Search or enter address' for a blank tab).
I then went into preferences, clicked on the search settings tab and it did not load.
What I expected to happen was obviously for non-URL inputs to be submitted to a search engine and the results returned on screen and - obviously - for the search preferences tab to load.
Happens on a fresh Firefox user profile as well.
I did already submit a bug to Mozilla, but I thought it might have something to do with Ubuntu/Mint enhancements to the browser. |

I then tried adding back the dedicated search box to the interface and that didn't work either.
