Login windows won't allow login as repeated dots appear

Have installed Linuxmint 17.3 Cinnamon using Multisyste, Yumi & Xboot to add Iso to Usb , installed .iso twice and even downloaded distro from 3 dif places, but seems when I attempt to login, it interrupts and shows repeated dashes, also menu titles to the right gray out and won't allow to select items , for example Preferences or Admninstration title shows but to the right of it, is greyed out and won't allow to click, anyting I try to type, like on a notepad such as Kate or other not software I get repeated dots, also on browser, tried Firefox, Chrome & even Opera and on search obx I get repeeated dashes.

I changed the keyboard to British English but it eventually shows up again., seems this is a bug.

Also on Nvidia 340 driver , one monitor allows to select a resolution such as 1280 x 960 but does not show this selection on 2nd monitor.

I love the new colors etc, but sorry that this bug does not let me use it.

I have no problems with windows 10 at all, so it is not my keyboard.

this bug appears quite frequently, usually from the start when I login it is already there, sometimes it shows up later.
then I have to reboot.

I have also updated yesterday to see if that removes it.
