Bug Description

1) Os version: Linux Mint 17.3(Rosa) cinnamon 64bit
2) problem: after install linux mint without problem, when installation is finished i reboot and always it reproduce the same error(plymouth-shutdownmdm), and also i need press the power button for shutdown the laptop.

i have the next computer and hardware:

Name: Lenovo b50-80 x64bit compatible with uefi
ram: 8gb
graphics: intel 5500/ amd radeon R5 M330
secureboot: Disabled

exactly same here.
Interesting this happened just after FIRST dist-upgrade. Indeeed the distro mint 17.3 as per installed did not show any problem.
I'm getting mad to understand which update has caused the problem and a workaround to solve it, but i'm not able to do nothing, except turn off the pc with violence....

ok guys have to report a solution.

just abandoned kernel 3.x, installed 4.2 and the error is gone.

Same bug happen to me. Using Dell Inspiron 15 7548 i7-550U + AMD R7
Secureboot: Disabled
Boot by UEFI

Startup OK, but reboot or shutdown will hang and give error.
