Mint 17 installer fails near end of install in plugininstall.py

I've tried to install 32-bit Linux Mint 17.2 (both MATE and Xfce), on a Medion Netbook E-1210. The installer reproducibly fails near the end of the installation.

I have checked /var/log/syslog for errors and found the following lines that might point to the problem:

If I comment out lines 654-656 in /usr/share/ubiquity/plugininstall.py before running the install, then the installer runs to completion without error. I don't know, though, if ignoring the error in configure_apt may cause subtle problems later on.
