mate-terminal Opens Tabs in New Window

In mate-terminal if you use the "--tab" option, it is supposed to open the new terminal in a new tab of the existing window. However, it doesn't: instead it opens it in a new window entirely.

Per the mate-terminal folks (https://github.com/mate-desktop/mate-terminal/issues/96) this should already be fixed, but Mint is running an older version of mate-terminal without the fix.

Can you please upgrade the mate-terminal version to fix this bug?
