Bug Description

Running Linux Mint 17.2, upgraded from 17.1 which was working perfectly.

Cpufreq no longer shows the frequencies as before, from the bottom to 3.9 Turbo Mode. Only Performance & Powersave are shown.

Removed cpufreq via Terminal by purge, rebooted & reinstalled, rebooted again, same thing. Only those two options are shown.

The issue is constant on the one Linux Mint 17.2 PC.

You must disable intel pstate.

Add intel_pstate=disable parameter to /etc/default/grub file.

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash quiet"

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="splash quiet intel_pstate=disable"

Then update grub.cfg file followin command.

sudo update-grub

Thanks for the solution, never would had figured this out on my own via Web searches, even to this date (11/19/2016). Shows how to enable to prevent overheating, not how to disable.

Very likely, many has now found this solution by me raising the question, again I extend my thanks to the team. Happy Holidays!
