Bug Description

Hello,

Here are some notes about installing Mint 17.2 on my laptop.

I use the standard version of Mint (Cinnamon version).

When starting on a USB key for installation, there is a bug from his on login (music in loop). As soon as we begin to set the installation settings, the bug disappears.

At the end of the installation my laptop freezes, unable to restart normally, use the on / off button.

At first startup, we immediately noticed that the parameters of custom desktop (icon size) are lost, not great ...

After the up-to-date, my laptop froze the restart, I did not even have access to the keys CTRL + ALT + F1, etc ...

After restarting via the on / off button and trying a command "sudo reboot", the same conclusion, my laptop froze. At each restart the same problem returns. If I try to turn off my machine, the same bug is present.

I tried updating the kernel in 3.19.6 version with no better results. After installing the kernel 4.0.7 I get a kernel panic.

In conclusion I would say that this version of Mint 17.2 is not sufficiently finalized and should review this new version in an emergency (I think my laptop gets very hot with mint 17.2), I dare not install it on my Workstation am afraid of having problems.

I feel it comes from the kernel without being sure.

After this failure, I tried to install LMDE 2. After the up-to-date system I had the same problems.

I returned to 17.1 and everything works much better except : Nvidia Optimus is innutilisable (only the Intel graphics work). There is also a small problem with the software to create bootable USB key from an ISO. When I do run it's impossible to run a another fonction on the system during the writing on the USB key. Another small problem is prédent at boot, if I use a NTFS formatted traditional hard drive on my system : Mint 17.1 who is installed on a small SSD start 3-4 times slower than if the drive NTFS is not plugged in (it looks like it is poorly recognized or that linux try to use it, I have not did ask him to mount automatically this disk).

PS : Excuse me for my bad english ...

I did an update of the Mint 17.1: kernel v3.13 v.3.16 towards everything worked perfectly.

I then put to the day my laptop 17.1 to 17.2 everything works perfectly.

Looks like this is the iso of 17.2 problematic if complête installation.

Maybe you applied a hotfix lately?

Many greetings
