sound does not work through laptop speakers

Bug Description
Using Mint 17.1, I tried to play sounds through my laptop's builtin speakers and I got no sounds at all. I tried the same thing with headphones and I was able to get sound.
The problem occurs always. Sound works properly on Windows 8.1 with the same laptop.
I'm using a Gigabyte P25w v2 SP2 laptop.

Same on my laptop (Asus N551 JK)
Sound on headphones, no sound from speakers.
