You might look at a reported fix for the Intel 7260 cb in Linux kernel 3.18-rc1, which I noticed at
"Ubuntu 14.04 reports no wireless card with Intel Wireless 7260" http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2242147&page=2
So you can now try out the final 3.18 via https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds

which notes severe disconnect problems with the intel 7260 on windows, bsd, and linux machines.
