Applications menu custom icon not loaded after reboot

Bug Description

Mint17 Xfce

I chose a custom icon (from the available icons, grey LinuxMint logo) for the Applications Menu (not default menu). This was displayed correctly after I had set it.

After reboot, there is only a placeholder icon (grey folder or square) shown. The menu is fully functional.

When I left-click on the menu, select 'settings', click on the icon (which is the correct one in that dialog), double-click on it in the icon selection window (it is already selected) only then the correct icon is loaded and displayed.

This happens on every reboot, and I'm tempted to just rename the icon to the default icon's name...

For everyone who has the same problem:
In the settings menu where you can choose the icon set you want to use, there may be a small speech bubble behind the icon set you have chosen.
If you hover above that bubble with the mouse, it shows you the command you need to type in as root in a terminal.
This solves the problem of disappearing custom icons.

SOLVED

Okay, no, it is NOT SOLVED.

Now it works SOMETIMES (maybe 3 out of 4 times) but not always.
