Can OP verify whether this bug is identical to the one I am having: After using Settings|Menu Editor, which launches MenuLibre, the Applications Menu has been crippled. In particular, the sudden changes include, as demonstrated in the attachment):
* no suspend or logout links,
* contents of Settings is no longer sorted, and
* applications groups other than Accessories, Graphics, Internet, Multimedia, Office, and System are not present (even though other groups are present in MenuLibre, are not marked hidden, and contain non-hidden items).

There may be more crippling, but I can't recall what was on this menu before being firebombed by MenuLibre.

This is a breaking problem for me as I now have no way to logout.

Since the original poster (OP) has not responded in the last 40 days, I have posted a complete description of the problem at #1479633 and marked this as a duplicate. It would be helpful if OP would clarify that this is or is not a duplicate of that bug.

Apologies for not responding before. This bug dates back to the very first release LM17 Xfce, and was fixed shortly afterwards. I don't think this will be related to any other problems, and this bug should be closed.

This bug is not fixed. As reported at #1479633, it has been replicated in 17.1 and to a lesser degree in 17.2.
