Bug Description
1. Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon
2. Start Pidgin, go to Preferences, activate tray icon by clicking on GUI -> Show tray Icon -> Always
3. The Pidgin tray icon doesn't appear, instead you have a blank space in tray, which should show the Pidgin icon. When you left or right click in the space, nothing happens. I must say that the first time i activated the tray icon, it did work though, but the icon disppeared leaving a blank space after a while. Now every time i activate it in the Pidgin preferences, there is a blank space.
4. As mentioned above, there should be a tray icon, which options for Piding, when you right click the icon, or, when you left click, it has to bring up the buddy list, which can be minimized to the tray, by clicking the close button on the buddy list.
5. When i activated the tray icon in Pidgin's preferences, it worked as expect, but after a while, the icon disappeared, leaving a blank space. Now i can't get it to appear at all anymore.
I have the exact same issue.
I have the panel reduced to the smallest it will go in "Panel Settings" -> "Size Options" (Allow cinnamon to scale icons... is also checked).
I've noticed that once I open pidgin, I get the blank space where the icon should be, then if I change the size of the panel, the icon appears when the panel resizes, I can then set it back to the smallest setting and it will remain. If I quit pidgin, and restart it, the issue reappears until I do something to "refresh" the icons.
