Bug Description
I am using: Linux Mint 17 RC, Cinnamon 64-Bit
I freshly installed Linux Mint 17RC. When I was able to get to the desktop (had to surpass the login screen via terminal and startx - wouldn't do anything), I noticed something strange.
Mint was in software rendering mode. When I checked via glxinfo, the terminal told me it had failed to load radeonsi because the access had been denied.
After doing some research, I found the fix: Adding yourself to the "video" group. After that, it worked fine.
I also had to add myself to the "audio" group, because only the dummy output was available due to the lack of me being in that group. Adding myself helped.
I just noticed I also can't use the network manager, because all options there are grey. Same goes for shutdown options. It only shows "log off". (Edit: A recent update added the other shutdown options and fixed the login menue. Thank you! *edit2* Shutdown itself also works now. It won't stay black instead of actually turning the computer off.) If I force the computer via sudo shutdown now, it will turn black and just stay that way. I need to hit the power button manually, then.
I tried reinstalling twice, with no effect.
Not sure if everything is connected, but I just thought I'd report that as one entity.
The same for me in 17 Cinnamon 64bit kernel 3.13.0-40. No menu options for shutdown, restart, suspend or hibernate. Only logout option after console login and command startx.
