Bug Description

When booting Linux mint 16 it will halt at a black screen with just a cursor.
The X server constantly creates junk files at /home/currentuser/.cache/upstart/ causing disk to become full and services to stop working.

I played around with it a little and figured out how to fix or at least postpone the problem.

1. drop to shell (tty1) by doing ctrl-alt-F1
2. type cd .cache/upstart/
3. type rm *.*
4. type sudo reboot

That should delete all the junk files that are taking up all the space on the system disk and reboot.
If requested i can provide more info and logs on this bug.
