Bug Description

I reported the following problem to the Whiskermenu people at Github:
-----
Whisker keeps blocking shortcut

Since the latest update whisker seemingly invincibly claims the shortcut (super-space) I have been using otherwise for years.

It cannot actually be changed in the keyboard-pref.
If the whisker-shortcut is changed to something else, whisker returns with a SECOND entry reclaiming the original shortcut as well.
If removed, it keeps coming back. Uninstalling whisker was no success either, it keeps blocking.

I am using Mint 16 64bit xfce RC.

I got the following reply:

I'm sorry, but this is a bug somewhere else. Whisker Menu does not handle the shortcut processing in any way; it only opens when told to do so, it does not listen for keyboard shortcuts or add itself to your list of Xfce keyboard shortcuts. I would recommend reporting it to Mint first; they would have a better idea than me about what is happening.

Done. Can you help?

I do have similar situation that I cannot change any default hotkey. Not reassign, not remove, not clear.

I can also confirm this bug. I was unable to remove default shortcuts using the Settings Manager > Keyboard GUI. I was however able to add new shortcuts. The problem was that I was intending to use the <Super> key which by default is set to the Whisker Menu.

After a little snooping around I noticed that new shortcuts were being sent to ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml. However, the default shortcuts are found at /usr/share/mint-configuration-xfce/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml.

My workaround for this was to edit /usr/share/mint-configuration-xfce/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-keyboard-shortcuts.xml and remove the unwanted keybind --> save --> Log out and in --> Return to Settings Manager > Keyboard, and add anymore desired keybinds.

Hope this is fixed in releases to come.

Seems like this has yet to be fixed in Linux Mint 17 RC
