I have a crash when attempting to restore files on Linux Mint KDE 16, final release. It happens when trying to pick the destination directory. I get this output:

I see this error exactly as described, also when trying to choose destination to create backup.
(error printout omitted as it is identical to bug description).

Hi,

After some digging I'm afraid this is out of our hands.

There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with mintBackup. It looks like the Oxygen GTK is either at fault or a regression was caused in GTK and the theme no longer works as expected.

Here is what you can do to solve the situation:

 - Open System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Gtk
 - Select Raleigh as the GTK2 theme
 - Click Apply

Of course Raleigh is pretty ugly.. but it works.

You can also download additional GTK2 themes.

status: New → Won't Fix

But how is that mintBackup is the only application I found so far that crashes in this way?
Also, if it is actually an Oxygen GTK fault, could you report a bug for it so that it may be fixed upstream?

Also, in my case, even if I switch to Raleigh GTK2 theme, mintBackup keeps on crashing in the same way...
I'm using Mint 16 KDE (final).

hi,

This was fixed in Qiana. We'll backport the fix to Petra.

When is the backport to Petra likely to occur? It would be nice to be able to backup before upgrading.

Clement, any news on this backport fix to Petra? It would be useful in order to upgrade to Qiana...

I updated mint from olivia (where mintupdate was working) to quiana (where it is not).

I replaced both mint and ubuntu sources similar to the ways described in http://www.tecmint.com/upgrade-linux-mint-16-to-linux-mint-17/ as i did previously with other versions of mint.
I have not found any other broken packages so far.

I checked mint-configuration-kde Version: 5.0.36, but the problem persists for me. Changing the gtk theme has no effect.

The workaround described in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=326424#c11 was successfull in my case.

Matthias, I suggest you to add a comment at https://github.com/linuxmint/mintbackup/issues/10 if mintbackup still crashes for you in Quiana. The issue tracker at GitHub seems to be more monitored than this by the Mint developers.
