Bug Description

I'm experiencing a brightness problem on my ASUS UX31E on Linux Mint 15 that I didn't have in Linux Mint 14. What happens is I set a brightness level in > Control Center > Power Management and it adjusts the brightness correctly.

The problem begins after that: when I move the mouse, or even just randomly on its own without any user input, the brightness will intermittently flash back to full brightness and then back down again, all in < 1 second. If I keep the brightness on max, I don't see this problem, of course. This happens on AC or battery power, and it is not a hardware problem, as it does not occur at all on other OSs, or in Linux Mint 14.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Again, the same settings seemed to work perfectly in Linux Mint 14.

I have been experiencing a similar problem in the live usb for Linux Mint 16.

I have coordination problems, and have trouble setting the slider, it can sometimes dim the screen completely, or cause the screen to strobe. I think a typed-percentage input box could avoid the problems with the slider wandering, but I don't know what could solve the problem with the strobing.
